The Chosen One, Light Weight Variations

This video is dedicated to showcasing 3 primary ways to generate "light weight" version of the Chosen One.

The first two technique use 0.030 Lead Wire. The first and simplest is simply wrapping the hook shank with wire for the desired weight - which is applicable for tying the BULKhead series of flies. The second technique is borrowed from Mark Sedotti, and utilizes his technique of stacking lead consecutively underneath the hook shank to create a Keel box. This box will not only lightly weight the fly, but also help stabilize Jerk fly heads and keep them tracking true.

Thirdly, I demonstrate how to work the Strung Fuzzy Fiber dubbing loop around lead eyes to create a clean head without gaps or exposed thread.

All 3 of these techniques are designed to give you an action counterpart to the previously demonstrated weightless versions. Jig flies being effective on their own, will also fish lower in the water column, as well as being a perfect variation to throw on your favorite floating line!

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
