Walt's Worm

Probably the simplest fly pattern in Morgan Lyle's "Simple Flies," Walt's Worm was created in 1984 by Walt Young of Pennsylvania. This is not a bead head version, or Walt's Sexy Worm... this pattern's beauty is in it's simplicity.

Hook: #8-18 nymph
Thread: Tan
Weight: 0.020-0.025"
Body: Hare's mask and Antron mix
Anything else: nope

Savage Flies is a project with the mission of encouraging and teaching fly tying to as many people as possible. The channel is named after one of my western Maryland homewaters, the Savage River. I've been uploading at least three new videos a week (usually Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday).

Thanks for stopping by. Please let me know in the comments if you have any tying tips you would like to share or if you have any patterns you would like to see tied here.

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
