Peacock

Here we'll tie the Peacock caddis nymph by Kolbeinn Grímsson. Mr. Grímsson designed many great flies during his career as an Icelandic angler. The Peacock nymph is named after the bird and the majority of the fly is made out of the peacock hearl .... so... you guess.
The Peacock is most likely the most used nymph in Iceland when it comes to fishing for trout and arctic char. Peacock is as popular as the Pheasant tail nymph here in Iceland. It's an easy pattern to tie and just based on your preferences, you can pick if you want to make thick body of the fly or skip that. It's all in your hands, great fly that works so well.

Pattern:

Author: Kolbeinn Grímsson.
Hook: Kamasan B175 #8.
Bead: Gold or copper.
Thread: UNI 8/0 black.
Underbody: Thin wool thread.
Body: 6 - 8 strands of good quality peacock hearl.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
