March Brown Spey Salmon Fly

Small spey flies are just a pleasure to tie. This one is inspired by the book “Mine beste fluer” (My Best Flies) written by the Norwegian author Erling Olsen.
The Salar single hook or the Patriot have the shape I like for this type of fly and the are strong hooks too. This one is tied with silver tag and rib embossed tinsel, the same can be done with gold.
A red feather from a gold pheasant skin for the tail, natural dubbing mix from camel, hare mask and opossum. Brown rump pheasant feather for hackle and some angel hair under the mallard wings. The thread is color wine size 8.
This is a fly that I am exited to fish with next summer! I hope you enjoy the video:)

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
