Blue Rat

One of the biggest flytiers in Denmark, and the rest of the world - is famous Poul Jorgensen. He is a Dane who spent most of his life in the United States, where he earned quite a reputation as an excellent fly tyer, and have published some of the most important books on flytying like "Salmon Flies - their character, style and dressing". He never restricted himself to just tying salmon flies, but tied all types of flies. But in this video we once again have teamed up with our very own Håkan Kärsnæser who will be tying his more simple version of the Blue Rat.

The Blue Rat is a member of the Rat series of Atlantic-Salmon flies. According to Dick Stewart and Farrow Allen in Flies for Atlantic Salmon, the Rat series was introduced in 1911 by Roy Angus Thompson whose initials R.A.T. gives the series its odd name. Many people contributed to the Rat series, and in particular the Blue Rat was designed by Poul Jorgensen for fishing in Iceland.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
