#90 Spring Breeze - Monte Smith

Tied by: Monte Smith
Originated by: Monte Smith

Hook: Gaelic Supreme Mike Martinek 8xl #1
Body: Flat silver tinsel
Rib: Copper wire
Belly: White bucktail and a short golden pheasant crest
underwing: Peacock herls covered by a long golden pheasant crest
Wing: 2 light blue hackles flanked by slightly shorter orange hackles
Shoulder: Blue phase peacock feathers
Eyes: Jungle Cock
Head: Black

Notes: I can only assume that Monte was channeling Carrie Stevens when the design for this fly came to him. I can see the Grey Ghost, Pirate and the Blue Devil all peaking out of the wonderful streamer. If there were an orange band on the head I would swear it was one of her patterns.

An original pattern of mine [Monte Smith] for spring lake fishing. I love blue phase peacock feathers for any number of applications

I agree about the use of the blue phase peacock, it really defines the head of the streamer and is really quite pleasant to look at.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
