Belly: White bucktail
Throat: White hackle fibers
Wing: Four lavender hackles flanked on each side by one silver badger hackle slightly shorter
Shoulder: One tan tipped Lady Amherst pheasant body feather
Cheek: Jungle cock
Head: Black (with Orange band)

Notes: It isn't known exactly who "Kelly" is, but Carrie did on occasion create and name flies for friends and family. It is thought that the streamer may be named for an angling friend, but since no journals were kept to record such things, the origin of the name has been lost to time.

"Carrie did not necessarily know all the people after whom she named patterns. Kelley's Killer, Dr. White, and Dr. Gray, may have been named for fishing friends, but who these individuals were is not known." - Hilyard Pg. 75

Regardless of it's origin, Kelly's Killer is an excellent smelt imitation with it's light lavender colored wing and defined head. The badger hackle also provides a natural lateral line to the minnow.
