#323 Lioness Streamer - Davie McPhail #323 Lioness Streamer - Davie McPhail

Tied by: Davie McPhail
Originated by: Davie McPhail

Hook: Partridge CS15 #2
Thread: Black 6/0
Tag: Silver flat braid
Body: Mixed earth tone wool (brown, cream, tan)
Rib: Silver flat braid
Belly: Dyed yellow bucktail, use the dark side of the tail to get the brown yellow mix followed by golden pheasant crest
Wing: 2 sunburst yellow hackles flanked by Chinese cock ginger or Cree hackle
Collar: Black hackle
Cheek: Dyed sunburst golden pheasant rump feather
Topping: Peacock herl
Eye: Jungle cock dyed yellow
Head: Silver flat tinsel and black

Notes: The Lioness Streamer is half of a pair of streamer Davie tied for the project. The pattern is full of rich earthy yellows and browns that melt into one another. The key to this being the sunburst dyed feathers Davie is so fond of. Davie prefers to dye over natural colored capes such as Cree, ginger and dun to create depth in the color palate of the streamer. It was Davie's better half who suggested the names for the pair of streamers. Davie's Lion will be featured sometime in December.

I agree with Jim. The name, colors, tones, are extremely beautiful. The name is a perfect one as well.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
