Tied by: Barry Phillips
Originated by: Barry Phillips

Hook: Mustad 3665A
Thread: White 8/0
Body: Opal mirage flat tinsel
Throat: Fluorescent orange fun fur
Wing: Silver Dr. Blue polar bear hair, pearl crystal hair, dark blue polar bear hair and silver pheasant crest
Belly: White polar bear hair
Shoulder: Red golden pheasant body feather than a silver pheasant body feather
Cheek: Jungle cock nail
Eye: Painted white with black pupil
Head: Black

Notes: Blue Fly is a basic descriptor of Barry's magnificent polar bear and silver pheasant crest winged streamer. The fly is one of a series of six streamers that Barry created in order to cover off the baitfish he encounters in his favourite waters. Barry acknowledges the redundancy of having both a jungle cock nail and a painted eye, but was compelled to include both based upon the advise and success of friend who has since passed on. Barry carries a full compliment of the streamers and reserves their use for the tough days when nothing else seems to be be getting any attention.

Beautiful Hairwing Barry - I've seen this pattern before !
Nice painted eye / nail combo. Joe would be proud.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
