#22 Blood Brother - Mike Martinek

Tied by: Mike Martinek
Originated by: Mike Martinek

Hook: Gaelic Supreme Mike Martinek Rangeley Streamer 8xl
Thread: White
Tag: Flat silver tinsel
Body: Red floss
Rib: Flat silver tinsel
Belly: Lavender bucktail then red bucktail then white bucktail
Underwing: 6 stands peacock herl then golden pheasant crest
Wing: 2 red hackles flanked by purple hackle
Shoulder: Red mallard flank
Eye: Jungle cock nail
Head: Black

Notes: This is a dark smelt imitation with lots red mixed in. It is a great trolling fly when tied in larger sizes and also perfect for casting in smaller sizes, 4-8. The belly of the fly is comprised of three colors, white, red and lilac, and when drawn through the water produce a cool effect. The lilac tied nearest the body blends seamlessly into the outer purple wing. The white bucktail forms the belly and the mid-line of red suggests a wounded prey item.

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
