Thread: Blue 6/0
Tag: Blue thread
Body: Silver Axxel flash
Belly: White bucktail
Underwing: 4-6 peacock herls
Wing: 2 silver Dr. blue hackles flanked by silver badger hackle
Eye: Jungle cock
Head: Blue
Notes: This is a nod to Dick Frost's Blue Smelt bucktail pattern. The Frosts Blue Smelt features the same tag and head in blue with a silver body. The wing was tied with layers white bucktail, peacock herl then blue bucktail. Dick's original featured a painted white eye with a black pupil and was tied both on single hooks and tandem rigs.

Long story longer
The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.

Thanks Kelly. I had been looking at the Frost's Blue Smelt for a long time wishing it was a feather-wing so it could be included, and figured I could create something. I'm pretty happy with how the pattern turned out.
