#172 Dr. Burke - Darren MacEachern

Tied by: Darren MacEachern
Originated by: Dr. Edgar A. Burke
Source: Streamer Fly Tying and Fishing; Bates (Pg. 263)

Hook: Gamakatsu Russian River #2
Tail: 15 peacock sword fibers tied long
Body: Flat silver tinsel #10
Rib: Oval silver tinsel
Wing: Four white hackles
Cheek: Jungle cock
Throat: Yellow schlappen tied long
Head: Black

Notes: The streamer was originated by Dr. Edgar Burke of New Jersey who was also the artist behind the famous fly plates from Ray Bergman's wet fly bible "Trout". The streamer was first developed in 1927 for use on the Kennebago Stream in Maine. The streamer is similar in design to Dr. Burke's "Family Secret", a streamer that has it's origin in the Dr. Burke Streamer. Both patterns have proved excellent flies for large sport fish varieties.

Beautiful fly Daren. The tail is especially nice, and hard to do.

A great streamer pattern. I think it's underfished.
Well done.

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
