#144 Santiam Sunrise - Robbie Hiltz

Tied by: Robbie Hiltz
Originated by: Monte Smith
Source: Tying Classic Freshwater Streamers; Klausmeyer Pg 95

Hook: Partridge CS15 #2
Tag: Gold oval tinsel
Body: Purple floss
Ribbing: Gold oval tinsel
Belly: Yellow bucktail, white bucktail, two short golden pheasant crests
Throat: White schlappen with deep red schlappen at front
Underwing: A few strands of peacock herl covered with a long golden pheasant crest
Wing: Two fire orange hackles flanked by two purple hackles
Shoulders: Dyed orange mallard flank
Cheeks: Jungle cock
Head: Black

Notes: This western developed streamer has a distinct eastern feel to it. Monte Smith developed the streamer and named it in honor of the Santiam River, one of Oregon's treasures. Rather than being thrown or trolled to Atlantic Salmon and Brook trout, this streamer was born to find the tug of the feisty steelhead and pacific salmon who migrate the Central Cascades in Oregon.

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
