Danish Fly Festival 2019

It takes place every second year, and can celebrate its 26th anniversary... or rather its 13th, since it has a two year long turnaround between "birthdays".
The first Fly Festival took place in the Danish town Esbjerg in September 1993, but the show has since been open every second year in the town Kolding, a bit further east.

It is by far the largest fly fishing and fly tying event in Denmark, and actually the largest fishing event all together. It's a must-attend show for any Danish fly angler, also tempting people to come from Germany in particular, but also the rest of northern Europe and Scandinavia.
Plenty people are demonstrating their tying skills there, and casters as well as other fly fishing related talent from the international fly fishing community is present in large numbers.

The show is also a commercial show where several Danish and European shops have their best goods on sale, oftentimes at good prices. Rods, reels and lines, apparel, materials, accessories, books, art and much else tempts the audience, and money has been known to shift hands during these two spring days in Denmark. I speak of painful experience... quite a bit of my money has shifted hands at previous shows.

This year the show is scheduled to the first weekend March, but even this early in the year, it's possible to combine a day of show attendance with some coastal fishing. The nearby Kolding Fjord can offer some nice spring fishing, and most of the southeast coast of Jutland as well as the west coast of the island Fyn is easily within reach.

I'm proud to be able to announce that I will be tying at the show again this year, mainly concentrating on Intruder style flies and playing with this large and gaudy style of salmon and steelhead flies. Feel very free to stop by these early days in March and have a chat.

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
