#46 Spotty - Glenn Peckel

Tied by: Glenn Peckel
Originated by: Ora Smith
Source: Trolling Flies for Trout and Salmon; Dick Stewart & Bob Leeman 1982 pg.87

Hook: Mustad 3665A
Body: Silver braided Mylar tinsel secured at each end with red thread. 6-10 black spots with red centers are painted onto the body.
Wing: 10-15 long golden pheasant crest feathers tied flat on top curving downward
Shoulder: Centered on top is 1 guinea hen feather tied flat (1/3 length) and on each side is a Lady Amherst pheasant tippet (1/4 length).
Head: Black
Eye: Painted white with red pupil

Notes: This is another of Ora Smith's signature golden pheasant crest winged flies. I really love the design and the detail put into the painted on spots on the body of the streamer. Ora Smith had some really unique ideas about his streamer designs, and his imagination has shaped some quite unique streamers for anglers and tyers alike to enjoy. Glenn has put together an amazing set of 12 Ora Smith streamers as his contribution to the Streamers 365 project. We will be auctioning them all together as a set near the end of the project.

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
