Booby Fly

One of the most effective flies, or type of flies, when searching for trouts and other species in the cold periods is the Booby Fly. Fished on a sinking line this patterns has proven its worth many times - and especially for reservoir-fishing it is deadly effective - actually it has been banned from several reservoirs for simply beeing too effective. Our very own reservoir specialist - swedish Håkan Karsnäser never leaves his booby flies back home when going fishing - and not only in the cold periode of the year, but also during the summer when trouts are found in the deepest parts of the reservoir the Booby is often found at the end of his leader. The combination of a sinking line and a floating fly is proberbly the most efficient way to fish close to the bottom without hanging up, so give it a try - and not only for trouts in reservoirs… give it a shot for other species like perch, panfish, bass and carp.

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
