First of all a Happy New Year to all Global FlyFisher readers and newsletter subscribers.

It's been a more or less crazy 2020 for most of us, and we're all hoping for some light at the end of the tunnel as soon as possible in the new year.
Reality is most likely - and unfortunately - that it will be some months yet before things really change for the better and we can return to life as we used to know it.

Luckily our virtual lives, which includes the Global FlyFisher, has been basically unaffected - except from quite a few more online conversations and meetings for most of us. Web sites, social media, online videos and much more has kept many of us sane and in contact with "reality".

The fishing has been affected for some of you. Where I usually fish it's been unchanged apart from more people with a little more time on hand to go fishing.
When it comes to fly tying, most of us have had more time than usual, and the ones of us living in the northern hemisphere just long for an option to get out and dip some lockdown- or work-from-home flies in the water and hopefully entice a fish or two to take them.

Until that happens you can as always enjoy new content on GFF. Lots of it is linked below. I can particularly recommend Danish Soren Skarby's fantastic images from the Fish Scaled Up project. Fascinating!

Apart from that I want to reach out and thank those of you who have supported the site with money during the year. You have no idea how much I appreciate your contributions, and a heartfelt thanks goes out here as well as on the site. Thanks to you I can now run the site without digging into my own pockets for money for hosting and other expenses.

Thanks!

Martin
