Nice Saturday

Hi everybody,
last weekend I made it to my club water in the German midlands not too far from Cologne. When I saw the river I didn't expect much, due to the not only cold but also dry spring it was very low (and the guys managing the dam at the top of the stretch are sitting on their water).
Within a few casts I was into a nice brown on nymph.
Then I changed to a new sinktip line and started to fish a streamer, the slightly weighted one ran too deep so I changed to a Muddler Minnow.
I could see my streamer when a large shadow rose from one of the pools immediately under the dam. I could see the jaws closing over my fly. After I landed the fish, by hand because the net was too small, I had the biggest imaginable smile on my face. It was a 63 cm cock that probably held over from spawning.
There were more fish on Saturday.
The fish ended in my oven in Aluminium foil with herbed butter, carrots, onions and garlic. I shared it with two friends who appreciate good fish,
